Vault (parkour)

In parkour, vaults (French language: "passements"), help someone clear over railings, tables, walls, and platforms as efficient and as quickly as possible by jumping or leaping over these obstacles, putting weight onto the object with ones hand(s). Sometimes it is impractical to perform some of these vaults.

There are many different types of parkour vaults:

* Monkey vault : Two hands are placed on obstacles and both legs are pulled up in a squat position and practioner pulls himself/herself over.
* Lazy vault : One hand is used to swing both legs over an obstacle and the other to carry over.

* (King) kong vault : A dive motion but at tip of obstacle hands are used to push up and legs are put in a monkey position.
* Dash vault : The practioner jumps first and than places hand down to carry self over.

Uncommon or freestyle vaults which aren't used for escape, but for show...

However, there are variations of parkour vaults that are uncommon. These vaults are considered advanced parkour techniques. Sometimes these techniques are often stylish and harder to execute.

There are different types of advanced parkour vaults:

* Triple kong : A kong with three taps
*Gate Vault : Weak hand is placed on top of an obstacles surface while strong hand goes below for strangth in rotation over at a 45 degree angle or more.
*Sky Vault : A one handed cartwheel over an obstacle
*Jackie Chan vault : Tic tac to a no handed dash
* Vert vault : Hands are placed as in a regular vault fashion but one leg is kicked up over head.
*Split one : Done in a lazy vault fashion, but at peak of power legs are split.
*Rocket Vault : Done in a lazy fashion both legs go together and a perfectly straight and feet are grabbed by traucers hand.
*Straddle vault : Both hands are placed at top of obstacle and splits are done to overcome the obstacle.
*Speed Vault : A jump sideways but in center of obstacle one hand is used to push oneself foward.
*Rail flip vault : Two hands are place on top of obstacle and a frontflip / foward handspring is executed.
*Trophy Vault"' : To roll over an obstacle as effeciently as possible. Usually done after spoiling a move.
*Vertical : A horizontal surface is run at at an angle and practioner spins himself 360 around the surface.
*Screwdriver : A kong motion but when hands are placed a twist is done to go four feet further over the obstacle.
*Dashbomb"' : A dash vault but with a frontflip.
* Lazy "turn" : A lazy vault but a turn so in a cat position.
*Dive roll : A dive over an obstacle with roll to withstand shock at the end.
*Carriage : A wall walk but with a kong right at peak of walk.
*Thief 360 : A thief vault but hands spin body in a 360 degress motion.
*Barrel : A double leg over an obstacle with one hand.
*Flare : A double handed cartwheel but legs are straight and together.
*Star: A cartwheel over an obstacle.

Variations:

*Thief 360 : A thief vault but with a 360 degress twist. Roll is usually executed right after.

*Underbar 180: An underbar but hands are used to tiwst body in a 180 degree motion.

*Double jump : Practioner uses a higher object/ obstacle to jump from to gain more height/distance.

* Dash 360 : A dash with a 360 degress twist.

*Weave: Practioner goes into a gape (ex. in between to bars) and quickly comes out the other side.

*Blisto : Like a regular vault but with a 360 degress twist. A blisto with a 740 is "blast".

*Wall climb : Like an upward wall run, but hands are used to push onself upward.

*Cat grab: Clinging to an obstacle in a squat position.

*Cat le

*Pop : One of the most basic/popular moves. Traucer/practioner will run at a wall/fence and literally pop or "kick" and propel themselves upward to overcome the obstacle which is usually taller than them. (ex. Pop regular) = Kick up wall and than do a regular

Extreme Styles : Styles that have no efficentsy and need much strength/felxibility.

* Jeeper/ Akward / Pendulum : In a vert motion but body is turned quickly and one leg goes over the head while the other goes below the body.
* Spring Foward : A rail flip but with a spring flip and legs are spread out.
*Scissors : In a lazy motion, but legs move side by side in a siccor cutting motion.
* Superman : In a kong motion, but hands do not touch obstacle.
*Cannon : A jump but legs are in monkey form and arms go around cupped legs.
*Underbar 540 : An underbar but with a quick 540 twist.
*Gate flare : Like a sideways gate vault motion, with legs perfectly straight.

Crusifix air: When in the air legs are straight down and arms spread out.Coffin: Like a crusifix, but arms make an X motion on chest.Angel: Legs go behind body and arms go with them.

Parkour is never limited to the type of vaults there are. Parkour is about movement, not making tricks. All the possibilties of new vaults are endless.
