Mateo Moreno (born May 23, 1978 in Independence, Missouri) is an American Actor and Filmmaker based out of New York City. He grew up in the midwest town of Independence, once home of Harry S. Truman and Ginger Rogers, and attended Fort Osage High School and briefly attended Longview College and The University of Missouri Kansas City.

Acting & filmmaking career

In 1997, Moreno starred in his first film role, The Witness, a docudrama chronicling the story of the Pequot War of 1636. Although it was never nationally released, it played to sold out crowds at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center. After that, Moreno starred in several local Kansas City productions, and independent films. He then moved to New York City, attended The American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Since then, he's starred in National Tours, Off-Off Broadway and Off-Broadway productions including, Twelfth Night, World Gone Wrong, All in the Timing, and starred in several independent and studio films. In 2004, Moreno formed his first production company, Films by Candlelight and made his directorial debut with the romantic comedy, Days, which he also wrote & co-starred in. It also included a soundtrack by Kristie Stremel, Exit 159, Jill Stevenson, and Go Betty Go. He also has written and/or directed several short films.

In 2007, Moreno teamed up with fellow actress Jessica Savage to create A FIVE DOLLAR BILL, which has produced the short comedic film Deadbeat and the horror film Avenue A. He resides in Brooklyn, NY.
