Lake Wappapello is a man-made lake on the St. Francis River. Created in 1941, this convert|45000|acre|km2|sing=on lake is located convert|120|mi|km south of St. Louis. It primary purpose is flood control though it has evolved into a recreational area with ample opportunities to boat, fish, swim or camp.
