Biography

Panic Office are the Progressive/Experimental Rock band from Somerset, UK. Having formed in 2005 many changes have occurred in their line up to form who they are today. Originally started by Samuel Jones and Jack Cantwell, with the aim to create the metal music that Jack wanted to create and the mellow music Sam wanted to make there were obvious clashes from the beginning. This is obvious from their first three songs: "Beyond the Houses", "Falling Skies" and "Payment" (Originally "The Worst Is Yet To Come"). During the time of these songs the line up mainly consisted of Ben Redmond on Drums and Paul Taylor-Clinch on Bass however before Ben, Rob Channon had been the drummer for a short time and Pete had been bassist.

After the band's first two gigs however Paul Taylor-Clinch chose to leave the band in December 2005, being replaced by Sam Large, the current bassist. Pete also returned to the band as Synth and Piano player. Just after these changes in January 2006 work began on the final track of their only release to date: "They Were Silent". Over the next few months, however, Jack Cantwell (Last gig: 26th of August 2006), leaving to further his work with the now deceased band When I Wake, [cite web | url = http://www.myspace.com/wheniwake1 | title = When I Wake Homepage | date= 2008-01-08] and Ben Redmon both left the band being replaced by Phil Shelly (Guitar) and George Banwell (Drums). 2 new songs were written after these final changes to the line up "Ten8" and "No Spirit" which were finished along with "They Were Silent" for the first gig of the this line up in December 2006. On September the 1st 2007 the band release their first album Ghost Music which received third place in Jon Wisbey's BCFM Rock show's album of the year (2007). In early 2008 Sam Large departed from the band and was replaced by Matt Lewis, the band have begun work on their second album debuting 2 possible tracks written so far (Light Spirals and Song For July) on February the 28th 2008.

The band have recorded a four song EP with the songs twilight, song for july, help but then don't and glazed on it. also circulating in the studio was the short experimental voice clip/ electronic track called 'now you and i are quits'. This is rumoured to be a possible title or at least a working title for the EP, which harbours a slight change of direction, or paradigm shift, to a more refined and clean time for the band, and this is evident upon listening. The classic Panic Office sound, however, has not vanished completely from these recordings and it is good to see that this ethos of darkness is still dominant. Considering this EP was recorded entirely at home without any use of professional studio equipment it is a formidable feat of musicality and coherent engineering. This is an excellent and versatile release and depicts a mature and sophisticated band who are not afraid to experiment with their sound. Further plans are as of yet unknown.
