Sally Boazman

Sally Boazman

Sally Boazman (born 13 September 1957) is a BBC Radio 2 traffic presenter. Often nicknamed Sally Traffic, she can be heard relaying the latest traffic news at 1.30 pm on the Jeremy Vine show and throughout the afternoon on a half hourly basis on the Steve Wright and Chris Evans shows.

She originally had plans to become an actress, but abandoned this after disappointment, and went into current affairs instead. Her first media job was at the current affairs department of London Weekend Television, where she worked alongside the future BBC Director-General Greg Dyke.

Her career in radio began after she became a traffic news announcer for the AA, after which she went on to appear on a number of different stations presenting traffic bulletins. These included Classic FM, the BBC World Service and several commercial stations, where she presented her own shows. In addition to this, she was also a presenter with the British Forces Broadcasting Service.

After taking a break from broadcasting following the birth of her son, Harry, in 1987, Sally returned to the airwaves as Chief Travel Reporter on BBC GLR.

She joined Radio 2 in October 1998 as its first official travel reporter, and quickly became popular with the network's listeners. Her on-air banter with presenters such as Johnnie Walker and Steve Wright made her a firm favourite with Radio 2's audience. She has also occasionally presented shows for Radio 2, for a time hosting an early morning show on Saturday mornings.

Sally's elder brother Bill Boazman is a noted blues guitarist and singer. [http://www.mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=56086 Bill Boazman - anyone know him? on The Mudcat Café] He is perhaps better known as Sonny Black.
