The Headquarters
The Headquarters of Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service is in the village of Hethersett which is 6 miles (9.7 km) south-west of Norwich[1]. The full address is Whitegates, Hethersett, NR9 3DN. Whitegates was commandeered for use by the National Fire Service during the Second World War and was eventually purchased by Norfolk County Council in 1950. The building was built as a family home in the late eighteenth century and has had various owners over the years. New building at the rear of the original house in recent times has replaced the coach house and stables of earlier times.
