Madison Media Institute College of Media Arts is a private for profit college located in Madison, Wisconsin. Degree programs are designed for the entertainment and media industry and accept enrollments year round. It offers degree programs in Digital Media Design, Video and Motion Graphics, and Recording and Music Technology, and Media Systems Technology. Madison Media Institute awards Associates degrees after 18 months of an accelerated curriculum.

The school is owned by American Higher Education Development Corporation and is Accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology.

History

Madison Media Institute was established in 1969 by Ray Szmanda as Trans-American School of Broadcasting. The school has always had it focus on media arts career training. In 1969 it started with programs that prepared graduates for jobs in radio broadcasting. Over the years the college added a broader range of programs to reflect the changes and growth media arts. The programs now offered at the college include, Digital Media Design, Video and Motion Graphics, Recording and Music Technology, and Media Systems Technician.

The college's founder, Ray Szmanda, was the owner from 1969 to 1986. In 1986 Mr. Szmanda sold the college to Ed Hutchings, a career broadcaster who had played a key role in the success of several Wisconsin and Minnesota radio and television stations. The college was owned from 1986 to 2007 by Ed Hutchings. In August 2007 the Hutchings family sold the college to American Higher Education Development Corporation, a New York corporation.

Housing

While attending MMI, you're living in comfortable, safe apartments in some of Madison's safest and most affordable communities. Although they do not own or operate their own housing facilities they work closely with carefully chosen property managers. Some of the property managers have designed special student leases and offer assistance with room mate placements.
