Alpha Fornacis (α For / α Fornacis) is the brightest star in the constellation Fornax and only brighter than 4.0 magunitude there. Also it has the proper names Dalim (in Piazzi's "Palermo Catalogue" of 1814) and Fornacis (in Burritt's "Atlas" of the "Geography of the Heavens" of 1835). This star was formally identical with 12 Eridani.

Alpha Fornacis is a binary star and has high proper motion.
