Air Ferry Limited was a British charter, scheduled and cargo airline from 1962 to 1968.

History

The airline started operations in April 1962 providing inclusive tour charters from Manston Airport. It first operated two Vickers Viking twin-engined piston airliners and later with the four-engined Douglas DC-4.In October 1964 the airline was taken over by Air Holdings Limited. Scheduled services were introduced in 1965 between Manston and Le Tourquet, Calais, Ostende and Rotterdam with services for passengers, cars and cargo. In 1967 two of the airline's DC-4s were lost in accidents. In 1968 the airline leased a pair of Vickers Viscounts, as well as operations from Manston flight were operated from Manchester, Bristol and London. It was the last season of operations and the airlines ceased operations on the 31 October 1968.

Accidents and incidents

* 21 January 1967 - Douglas DC-4 "G-ASOG" on a cargo flight from Manchester Airport to Frankfurt in Germany struck trees while on approach at night, two crew died.

* 3 June 1967 - Douglas DC-4 "G-APYK" on a charter flight from Manston Airport to Perpignan Airport in France struck a mountain (Mont Canigou) at 4000 feet while in the descent, 84 passengers and 5 crew died.
