The 2006 Appalachian State Mountaineers football team represented Appalachian State University in the college football season of 2006–2007. The team is coached by Jerry Moore and the Mountaineers play their home games in Boone, North Carolina. The football team competes in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), formerly I-AA. The Mountaineers are the only university in North Carolina, public or private, to win an National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) national championship in football. [cite news|title=N.C.
