Shaun Koen is a South African professional wrestler and promoter of the Africa Wrestling Alliance. He is the son of former wrestler Jackie Koen, and is a 3-time former All-Africa Heavyweight champion.

Career

Shaun Koen made his debut in 1986 for his father's promotion, "Ring Promotions", wrestling under his real name. From 1989 to 1994, he wrestled for numerous other South African promotions, such as "Interworld Wrestling Promotions" and Tiger Jeet Singh's "Anglo Asian Wrestling Federation". In 1992, he won the All-Africa Heavyweight Championship from the Zimbabwean "Big Mike Zuma" in Cape Town. Following his father's death and the collapse of Ring Promotions, he formed the Africa Wrestling Federation in 1995. The promotion was at first renowned in certain parts of Cape Town, such as Parow and Goodwood, and remained regional until its expansion in 2000. A year after the formation of AWF and during a tour of Kenya, Shaun lost the title to "King Jacob", but regained it three weeks later in a no holds barred challenge. Between 1996 and 2004, he continued touring around the country and in surrounding countries of South Africa with the AWF, defending the championship against various challengers such as "Big Bad Bruce", "Missing Link" and "Skull". In 2004, the AWF signed a year-long television contract with e.TV. Koen made an unsuccessful defence against "Terry Middoux" in June, but later regained the title on December 11, defeating Middoux on the live special "AWF on E Slam Series Final". Shaun Koen defended the title regularly until April 30, 2008, when he was defeated by The Missing Link in a four-way match also involving BDX-treme and African Warrior.
