Katowice International Airport ( _pl. Międzynarodowy Port Lotniczy Katowice-Pyrzowice) Airport codes|KTW|EPKT is an international airport located in Pyrzowice, 30 km north of the Katowice city centre, in Poland.

The airport features two passenger terminals A and B (completed in 2007) and a cargo terminal. Its concrete runway is 2,799 m long and 59 m wide and can accommodate any Boeing 747 or Boeing 777, albeit not at MTOW. Getting to and from the airport

By car

In 2007 new high speed road was opened between the "Podwarpie junction" and the terminal building. Passengers travelling by car from Katowice city centre should take the S86 express road and follow the blue text "Pyrzowice" with an aircraft logo on white background signs.

By bus

There is an hourly bus service between Katowice city centre and the airport. The bus leaves every full hour from Katowice Main Railway Station and stops near Qubus Hotel Katowice, Novotel Katowice and in Sosnowiec. It takes approximately 50 minutes to get from Katowice to the airport. The ticket costs 20 PLN (5.5 EUR) one way.

Terminals

Katowice International Airport has two terminals. Terminal A handles all non-Schengen flights; while Terminal B handles all Schengen flights. The longest airport observation deck in Poland is in Katowice International Airport.

Accidents and Incidents

*On 27 October 2007, a Boeing 737-800 chartered by the UN destroyed dozens of approach and landing lights whilst making a low approach at Poland's Katowice.
