Borommaracha Thirat IV

Borommaracha Thirat IV was the King of Ayutthaya in 1758 and the penultimate ruler of the Ban Phlu Luang Dynasty. Sanphet was born with the name Uthumphon, but took his regnal name upon coronation. He reigned only a few days. His elder brother, Ekathat, who was monk at that time, returned and forced him to abdicate. Uthumphon surrendered and lived into monkhood. However during the war with Burmese Kingdom, Uthumphon was asked to return to fight the invaders. After the defeat of Ayutthaya, he was taken captive to Burma and was said, died there.The rivalry taking place at that time reflected the deeply, internal conflict and factional trouble in Ayutthaya court, which threw the administration of the kingdom into chaos.
