Minamikyūshū (南九州市, Minamikyūshū-shi^?) is a city on the southern tip of Satsuma Peninsula, in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan.

As of March 31, 2011, the city has a population of 39,738, with a household number of 17,288 and an area of 357.85 km². Its population density is 111.05 per km².

On December 1, 2007, the city was formed by merger of the town of Ei, from Ibusuki District, and the towns of Chiran and Kawanabe, both from Kawanabe District. Chiran tea (知覧茶) is one of largest Japanese tea production base, with famous for production along with Shizuoka, Uji and Yame in Japan.^{[citation needed]}
