Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman

Mir Shakil ur Rahman (MSR) is the part owner of the Independent Media Corporation and Group Chief Executive and Group Editor in Chief of Jang Group of Companies of Pakistan. This media group publishes a number of Newspapers and Magazines in Urdu and English. IMC also owns the Geo TV network.

Achievements

Business Week magazine, in a report published in the issue of 11 July 2005, selected Mir Shakil ur Rahman in its list of 25 Stars of Asia, for their role in bringing change in their respective field in Asia. They wrote that Geo TV launched by Mir Shakil ur Rahman has become one of the most popular TV channels in Pakistan. The GEO TV network has quickly evolved into Pakistan's biggest network of channels.[clarification needed]

Media industry associations

Mir Shakil ur Rahman is currently[when?] president of All Pakistan Newspapers Society. He was the President of Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors in 1995-96 and 2003–04 and is currently[when?] the president of Pakistan Broadcasters Association.

He is the youngest son of Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman was the founder and editor of the Jang newspaper which has currently[when?] grown to be the most popular Urdu newspaper in Pakistan.[citation needed]
