Turicato is definitey a place to go to, especially deeper into the municipality. For those with an open mind and simplicity, you can garauntee you can relax and escape from all the madness of the cities. You escape internet, television, materialism, routine. When your there you literally lose the concept of time because time is not an issue there. There is no jobs (only when you work in your piece of land, take care of you cattle, and enjoy the beauty of nature), you can walk through little walk paths in the forest alone while listening to music and soak in the peaceful tranquil lifestyle that takes you back decades if not centuries due to its traditional isolation.

To get there is simple. From the capital of Morelia go to the Central Camionera and take a bus to Tacambaro (no more than 40 U.S dollars). From there you can either take a taxi to Turicato( for about less than 15 U.S dollars.) the capital of the county. You cannot leave without tasting the carnitas, they are ready at 9:20am for 110 mexican pesos a kilo. The family who sells the carnitas are most friendly people you will ever meet. To go into the heart of the county you can take "La Flecha" there are 2 different routes at different time. One of the routes goes to Santa Cruz via-Cutzian Grande, the other one goes to Las Nueces via Zarate.

As of August 2008 the region has been vary stable, violence has disappered due to the presence of the military intervening. This is definitely the time to go especially when there region is lush and green.
