Nikos Ekonomou (born in 1973, 2.06 m or 6'9" in height) is a retired Greek professional basketball player. He was a power forward, who played for many teams in his career. He also runs Basket4All, a basketball camp for young children.[1]

Basketball career

Ekonomou starter his career with Ionikos Nikaias. From 1991 to 1998 he was a member of Panathinaikos. He was one of the leaders of the team for many years. In 1993, he won the Greek Cup with Panathinaikos. He also played in the Euroleague's Final Four at Tel Aviv in 1994 and at Saragoza in 1995, winning the 3rd place in 1995.

In 1996, he won with Panathinaikos the Euroleague Championship, the Greek Cup and the Intercontinental Cup all in the same season. In 1998, he won with Panathinaikos the Greek Championship, the first Greek Championship of the team since 1984. He then played in the Italian League in 1999 with Virtus Bologna, and after a year he moved from there back to Greece to play for Olympiaco.

In 2001, he transferred to FC Barcelona of the Spanish League. He later returned to the Greek League to play for Olympia Larissa and he then left Greece once again, to play for Dynamo Moscow of the Russian League.

He then continued his career playing back in Greece with Panionios and finally, his last team was the Greek club Panellinios BC. While at Panionios, he was the Greek League Scoring Leader in the 2004-05 season.
