Serbian science fiction

Science fiction and fantasy in the Serbia has a long and varied history.

History

As far back as the end of the 18th century elements of science fiction can be found in Serbian literature, but for modern foundations are considered „Posle milijon godina” (After a million years) from 1889 written by Dragutin Ilić, which is first SF theatrical play in history of the world literature, as well as novel by Lazar Komarčić, "Jedna ugašena zvezda" published in 1902.

Today, Zoran Živković (writer), winner of World Fantasy Award, is considered to be one of the best-known (if not the best known) authors of Serbian science-fiction. Milorad Pavić, one of world celebrities of fantastika and Nobel Award nominee, is Serbian writer also.
