"The Historian" is a journal of history published quarterly in the United States on behalf of the national history honor society, Phi Alpha Theta, by Blackwell Publishing. Founded in 1938, the journal has a circulation of more than 13,000, making it one of the largest-circulating academic journals in the United States and Britain. "The Historian" publishes original articles and book reviews in all areas of historical scholarship. The managing editor is David R. Carr of the University of South Florida. The book-review editor is Richard Spall, Jr., of Ohio Wesleyan University.
