Richard Timothy Durrett is a
mathematician known for his research andbooks on mathematicalprobability theory ,stochastic processes and theirapplication to mathematical ecology andpopulation genetics .He received his Ph.D. at
Stanford University in 1976 under advisor DonaldIglehart, and since 1985 has been on the faculty atCornell University .He was elected to the
