BOC Aviation

BOC Aviation, formerly named Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE), is a company engaged in Commercial Aircraft Sales and Leasing, with headquarters in Singapore and offices in the UK and USA. Owned by the Bank of China, the company provides operating lease and fleet financing services for airlines. BOC Aviation-owned aircraft are currently in service with airlines in Africa, the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, the Middle East, and North and South America.

BOC Aviation currently owns 72 aircraft with an average age of approximately five years. The fleet is principally composed of aircraft from the Airbus A320 family and Boeing 737 and 777 series.

History

SALE was jointly owned by four shareholders:
* Singapore Airlines (35.5%)
* WestLB (35.5%)
* GIC (14.5%)
* Temasek Holdings (14.5%)

On 15 December 2006, Bank of China bought out all four companies' shares for US$980m. Thus, to reflect the change in ownership, the company was renamed BOC Aviation on 2 July 2007.
