Eleanor Emily "Ellie" Bartlet Faison, M.D. is a fictional character played by Nina Siemaszko on the television serial drama "The West Wing". Ellie is the middle daughter of President Josiah Bartlet and Abbey Bartlet.

In her self-titled debut episode in Season 2, Ellie, then a twenty-four year-old medical student at Johns Hopkins University, caused an uproar by stating her father would never fire the Surgeon General (who also happened to be her godmother) for her comments regarding the medical facts of marijuana. This shocked both President Bartlet and his staff, as Ellie had always been the Bartlet daughter who shied away most from the limelight. Her comments caused a brief rift between the already tumultuous relationship of father and daughter.

Ellie and her father have often not gotten along, with Ellie claiming that only Liz and Zoey have ever made him happy, and Jed claiming that "she always belonged to Abbey." Indeed, Ellie followed in her mother's footsteps and became a doctor, causing a small scandal in the fifth season when her medical research into HPV in sex workers came under fire by some Republicans in Congress.

In the seventh season, Ellie became engaged to her boyfriend, Vic Faison, referred to by Jed and Abbey as "The Fruit Fly Guy." This put an end to some small concern from her parents that she might, in fact, have been gayFact|date=August 2008. As Ellie was pregnant at the time of her engagement, the wedding was pushed up to only a few short weeks and took place in The White House. Despite concerns that an international crisis with China would cause Jed to be unable to walk his daughter down the aisle, Jed made it in time and the wedding went off happily.
