Harry J. Lincoln

Harry J. Lincoln

Harry J. Lincoln (1878-1937) was the composer of many a march and ragtime pieces, such as the "Bees Wax Rag" (1911), the "Lincoln Highway" two step march (1921), and the "Repasz Band March" (1929). He was credited the work of authors by other names (and vice versa). There are three theories to this.

*These names are either pseudonyms or names of relatives of his close friend and publisher, Ruth Vandersloot|Ruth Person Vandersloot.

*He could not afford medical payments for a supposed illness, so he sold his works to others.

*He arranged or published under his own publication company, these pieces written by other artists.

Some of these names are "Charles/Chas. Sweeley", "Abe Losch", "Carl Loveland", and "J. C. Halls".
