Rac2

Rac2

Rac2 (Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 2) is a small (~21 kDa) signaling G protein (more specifically a GTPase), and is a member of the Rac subfamily of the family Rho family of GTPases.cite journal |author=Ridley A. |year=2006 |title=Rho GTPases and actin dynamics in membrane protrusions and vesicle trafficking |journal=Trends Cell Biol |volume=16 |issue=10 |pages=522–9 |issn=0962-8924 |doi=10.1016/j.tcb.2006.08.006] It is encoded by the gene RAC2.cite web | title = Entrez Gene: RAC2 ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 2 (rho family, small GTP binding protein Rac2)| url = http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=5880| accessdate = ]

Members of Rho family of GTPases appear to regulate a diverse array of cellular events, including the control of cell growth, cytoskeletal reorganization, and the activation of protein kinases.cite web | title = Entrez Gene: RAC2 ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 2 (rho family, small GTP binding protein Rac2)| url = http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=5880| accessdate = ]
