United States Census Bureau , the township has a total area of 27.6square mile s (71.6km² ), of which, 27.5 square miles (71.3 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.3 km²) of it (0.36%) is water.Alexandria Township borders Holland Township, Bethlehem Township, Union Township, Franklin Township, Kingwood Township, Frenchtown Borough, and Milford Borough.
Alexandria Township also shares the

Thepopulation density was 170.6 people per square mile (65.9/km²). There were 1,598 housing units at an average density of 58.0/sq mi (22.4/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 97.02% White, 0.79% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.72% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.45% from other races, and 0.87% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.72% of the population.There were 1,535 households out of which 42.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 77.9% were married couples living together, 4.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 15.9% were non-families. 13.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.95 and the average family size was 3.25.
In the township the population was spread out with 28.1% under the age of 18, 4.9% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 27.8% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 100.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.0 males.
The median income for a household in the township was $92,730, and the median income for a family was $93,619. Males had a median income of $70,996 versus $39,904 for females. The
per capita income for the township was $34,622. About 4.3% of families and 5.0% of the population were below thepoverty line , including 7.7% of those under age 18 and 2.7% of those age 65 or over.Government

Alexandria Township is governed under the Township form of government with a three-member Township Committee.
