Eastridge High School

Eastridge is a high school in Irondequoit, New York. Its current principal is Mary Grow. The School is an IB (International Baccalaureate) world school. It also offers Honors and AP classes.

East Irondequoit Lancer Marching Band

The East Irondequoit Lancer band has won 6 state championships over 25 years in the New York State Field Band Conference. Under the direction of Jeff Hoffman, the Lancer Band will present music from the original Willy Wonka film in the Spring, and in the fall a show based on Pablo Picasso.

EHS Musicals

Eastridge Musicals were recognized in RBTL's (Rochester Broadway Theater League) "Stars of Tomorrow" in which in 2006 their show "Crazy For You" received 7 nominations including "Outstanding Musical". Most recently in 2007 "Thoroughly Modern Millie" received 6 nominations including "Outstanding Musical". The 2008 musical was "Grease", which received 5 points of recognition including outstanding musical.

Grade Requirements

According to the 2008-2009 Program of Studies, the credits needed for a student to pass their grade level are as follow:

Grade 10 - 5 Credits

Grade 11 - 10 Credits

Grade 12 - (varies on diploma)

Diploma Requirements

As of 2004, new requirements have been set for the number of credits needed in order to graduate and receive diplomas, and also for the number of credits required for students to pass their grade level.

Local Diploma

According to the 2008-2009 Program of Studies, the credits needed for a student to receive their Local Diploma are as follow:

* 4 English credits

* 4 Social Studies credits

* 3 Mathematics credits

* 3 Science credits

* 1 Art/Music credit

* 1/2 Health credit

* 2 Physical Education credits

* 1 Language Other Than English (LOTE) credit

* 5 1/2 Elective credits

Total Credits: 24

Students also must minimally earn 65% on at least two of the five required exams:

*Science

*ELA (English Language Arts)

*Global History

*US History

*Math A

Regents Diploma

* 1 Art/Music credit

* 1/2 Health credit

* 2 Physical Education credits

* 3 Language Other Than English (LOTE) credits

* 3 1/2 Elective credits

Total Credits: 24

(Students may substitute the LOTE credits with a 5-unit concentration in Art, Business, Occupational Education, Technology, or Music.)

Students must also earn 65% on their exams. Students who have entered the 9th grade from 2005-2008 will have different requirements for the exams they must pass.

Academic Placement

The following academic placements are as defined in the 2008-2009 Program of Studies.

*IB: International Baccalaureate classes begin in 11th grade. Students can take the full diploma or certificate courses.

*PLTW: Project Lead the Way classes offer opportunities for students interested in careers in Engineering, Product Design, Architecture, Manufacturing, and other technology careers. These courses offer affordable college credit to RIT and a number of other engineering/technology schools.

*Regents: Regents level courses are college preparatory courses. Some Regents courses require a state final assessment.

*Honors: Honors level courses are offered to students who have excelled in academic classes. Recommendation is based on teacher evaluation, test scores, and overall academic attitude. Honors level courses will prepare students for the rigors of Advanced Placement courses.

*
Advanced Placement courses are college level courses that challenge students at the college level. Students are recommended for AP by their teachers and will have the opportunity to earn college credit based on AP exam scores.
