Brad Ebert (born 2 April 1990) is an Australian Rules football player currently playing for the West Coast Eagles. Playing mainly as an inside midfielder, Ebert is known for his strong attack on the ball, strength in marking contests and standing at 188cm he is also known for his versatility. Comparisons in playing style have been drawn to Essendon champion, James Hird, who Ebert has also recognised as his favourite and most admired player.

Taken at pick 13 in the 2007 AFL National Draft by the West Coast Eagles, this selection caused some controversy [1] in South Australia as Ebert was widely expected to be recruited by the Adelaide Crows who instead recruited Victorian youngster Patrick Dangerfield.

A distinctive feature of Brad Ebert is his leadership and Character, Brad captained South Australia in the 2007 U18 championships where he was also named in the All Australian team.

Former Brisbane Lions premiership captain and current AIS coach Michael Voss has also endorsed Ebert's leadership potential;

"I have no hesitation in saying that Brad Ebert has all the credentials to eventually captain a club," Voss said.

"He should certainly be a quality leader around any club. He has all the credentials to be a fine player and leader." [2]

Ebert was recruited from the Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL, the same club that Father Craig, Cousin Brett Ebert (Currently playing for the Port Adelaide Power in the AFL) and AFL hall of fame inductee and 4 time Magarey Medalist Uncle Russell Ebert.

Brad made his debut for the Port Magpies in round 8 of 2007 against Norwood; Ebert went on to play 4 more games and average 19 disposals per game. [3]

Brad will wear the number 18 guernsey previously worn by former Eagles vice captain, premiership player and 150 gamer Rowan Jones.

On Tuesday 29 July Ebert was named as the NAB Rising Star Nomination for Round 17 following a day out which included 25 disposals, 4 marks, 5 tackles and 3 goals.

Brad was one of five teenage footballers whose final year of junior football was chronicled in the book The Draft: Inside the AFL's Search for talent by Emma Quayle, published by Allen and Unwin in September 2008.
