Kumar Patel is an fictional character from the film "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle" and its sequel "Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay".

"Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle"

Kumar Patel is a 22 year old Indian-American post-college student. He shares an apartment with fellow roommate and best friend, Harold Lee. Unlike Harold, Kumar is free spirited and out going, not afraid to do what he wants. Kumar is the yang to Harold's yin, with the both of them being united through their enjoyment of cannabis smoking after a long day's work and or leisurely fun (such as aboard an airplane in the sequel, and an after work "Friday night special" in the first film). Both his father and brother are successful doctors, and expect him to follow in their footsteps. Though not interested in school, Kumar is remarkably intelligent and knows how to perform surgeries, as shown in the film while looking for medicinal marijuana at the hospital.

One day, the two are stoned and see an advert for White Castle and decide to go there and get some food. On the way, they encounter a bunch of thugs who tell Harold to learn how to drive. They also run into the aptly named Freakshow, who offers to fix their car when it breaks down. He tells them they can go inside and have fun with his wife. To their surprise, his wife is hot. Freakshow comes into the house to find Harold and Kumar about to touch his wife's breasts. At first he freaks out but then he offers them a foursome and they run away. They then run into a hitchhiker who turns out to be Neil Patrick Harris. He wants to go to a stripclub to get laid. As they go to a gas station for directions, Neil takes off with the car. Harold then gets arrested by a racist cop for crossing the road without looking, but is eventually saved by Kumar.

After escaping from the prison and being on the run from the cops, they end up in the woods where they see a Cheetah. Not wanting to be killed, they get high with the Cheetah and start riding it. Harold gets knocked off, and they find out they've gone the wrong way. They are now back at the gas station, where they run into the thugs. There is a small confrontation and then Harold manages to steal their Orange Ford Bronco and ride it away into the woods. As they stop, they see White Castle. They then realise that on top of the Bronco is a hangglider. They set it up and jump off the mountain and land right in front of their destination.

They go in and each order 30 hamburgers, 4 orders of fries and 4 sodas, only to find out that they don't have any money. Neil Patrick sees them and gives Harold back his car key and says that he'll pay for their meals, He also gives Harold $200 for the "love stains" he made in the back of his car.
