Armenia competed in the first semi-final on 20 May 2008 in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. The country chose their singer by an internal selection. The Armenian national final concert that was scheduled for March 8, 2008 was canceled due to a State of Emergency in Armenia. [http://www.eurovision2008.org/armenian-national-final-canceled/ Eurovision2008.org] ] The Armenian TV channel decided to film a national final show instead. Sirusho sang four songs. The winning song was chosen by televoting and SMS voting.

Armenian composers were invited to write songs for Sirusho. Four of them were selected by a special jury and Qélé, Qélé, which will represent the country in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, was chosen during a National Final.

The songs that Sirusho performed in the national final were:

At the first semi-final, held on May 20, Sirusho performed 14th, and placed 2nd of 19, behind Greece and qualifying for the final on 24 May

At the final, Sirusho performed 5th, and received 199 points, placing fourth behind Russia, Ukraine and Greece. Armenia also collected the most amount of 12 points on the night, receiving 8 from Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland and Russia.
