American University of Technology

American University of Technology (AUT) is a private university established in the Lebanon. It was founded by HRH Ghada Hinain 1998 near the historical town of Byblos, Lebanon. The university is now directed by an appointed Board of Trustees.

AUT offers degrees in graphic design, computer technology, business, and mass communications. Students recently won top honors at the international Design Awards in Montreal. The Communications school recently completed a High Definition production facility, the only one of its kind in the Middle East.

The American University of Technology was established in 1998 under the name of American University College of Technology (AUCT), as an external degree program with Empire State College in New York. It was subsequently chartered as a non-profit, non-sectarian, co-educational institution of higher learning in the state of Delaware. AUT is established as an institution of higher learning under the SUNY system by the New York State Board of Regents, and by Decree from the Ministry of Education in Lebanon.

In December, 2007, the word "College" was dropped from the name and the university was renamed "The American University of Technology" by a governmental decree. The medium of instruction is English. AUT offers both Undergraduate and Graduate courses and degrees in most of its departments.

AUT's mission is to provide non-sectarian American higher education opportunities to qualified students from rural villages and towns between Beirut and Tripoli. Most of AUT's students work and receive financial aid. AUT students have achieved world class recognition in the Arts, Humanities, Computer Science & Engineering.

The Z-Centrum Media Learning Center is scheduled to open in the fall, 2008.
