Brian Nelson Calley (born March 25, 1977) is an American banker and Republican politician from Michigan. He is a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, representing the 87th District ( [http://house.michigan.gov/district_maps/dist087.pdf map] ), which covers all of Barry County and large portions of Ionia County.

Personal life

During High School, Calley volunteered for the local Republican Party, and joined its executive committee after graduation from Ionia High School in 1995. He then earned a MBA from Grand Valley State University in 2000, pursuing a career in banking. In 1996, he married Julie Powell; they have two children: Collin and Reagan.

Career and Public Life

After graduation, Calley worked throughout the banking industry, spending time at Ionia County National Bank (currently [http://www.firstbankmi.com/ Firstbank] ), and most recently serving as Vice President of Irwin Union Bank of Lansing. Calley was elected to the Ionia County Board of Commissioners in 2002, He served for four years until his election to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2006. During his tenure as a County Commissioner, he served on the Mid-South Substance Abuse Council, Ionia County Economic Alliance Board of Directors, Local Emergency Planning Committee, and Ionia County Personnel Finance Committee. In August 2006, Calley won the 87th House District Republican primary in a crowded 7 person race, and then went on to win the general election in November of that same year. He currently serves on the following House committees; Tax Policy, Banking and Financial Services, Health Policy and the Retiree Health Care Reforms Committee.
