Host Your Own Jeopardy! is a cartridge-based "plug and play" game introduced in 2004 by Educational Insights as the home version of the successful Classroom Jeopardy! that was launched in 2002. The game is played somewhat similar to the hit TV quiz show Jeopardy!

The system can be connected to any video source with RCA-style A/V connectivity (television, monitor, VCR, video projector), and doesn't require a computer to play (programming of the cartridges is done through the unit itself).

imilarities to the TV show

* The game uses the basic format of Jeopardy!
* Players signal using wireless remotes, similar to the signalling buttons used on the show.
* Scores are kept on a real scoreboard, just like in the studio.
* Just like the writers do for the show, you can create your own games and store them on a blank game cartridge that is included with the system.
* The game includes 20 preprogrammed games on 4 separate cartridges taken right from the show. Difficulty levels include Kids, Teen/College, Daily TV Game Show, and Tournament of Champions.
* Just like on the show, players who finish Double Jeopardy! with $0 or less are eliminated from the game before Final Jeopardy!
* Just like on the show, the player who has the highest score wins the game.

Differences from the TV show

* On the show, when contestants wager on a Daily Double, they may wager any or all of their money, with a minimum wager of $5. In Host Your Own Jeopardy!, the wagers must be made in 100 point increments, with a minimum wager of 100 points.
* On the TV show, the writers determined the placement of the Daily Doubles in a game. In Classroom Jeopardy!, the unit randomizes where the Daily Doubles are placed in each game (still one in J! and two in DJ!), so the host has no idea when one comes up until it does.
* On the show, when contestants wager in Final Jeopardy!, they may wager any, all, some, or none of their money. In Host Your Own Jeopardy!, the wagers must be made in 100 point increments, but you still have the option of wagering any part of, all of, or none of your points.

What is included in the system

* 1 base unit and scoreboard
* 1 keyboard
* 3 name magnets
* 1 eraseable marker
* 3 wireless remotes
* 1 host wireless remote
* 1 blank game cartridge that can store up to 10 custom games (additional blank cartridges may be purchased separately)
* 4 cartridges, each with 5 preprogrammed games taken from the show
* A/V cords
* Comprehensive User's Guide

The system was compatable with the blank and pre-programmed cartridges used with the Classroom Jeopardy! system. [http://www.writethink.com/phtml/16.html] It's presumed, but not confirmed, that the additional pieces made for the Classroom Jeopardy! system (the add-on scoreboard/remote sets & the Classroom Jeopardy! Link) are also compatable with the Host Your Own Jeopardy! system.
