The 2008 Jacksonville Jaguars season is the 14th season for the team in the National Football League. The Jaguars will try to improve upon their 11-5 regular season record in 2007.

The Jaguars began their 2008 campaign on the road against their AFC South foe, the Tennessee Titans. In the first quarter, Jacksonville trailed early as kicker Rob Bironas gave the Titans a 47-yard field goal. In the second quarter, the Jags responded with QB David Garrard completed a 1-yard TD pass to FB Greg Jones. However, Tennessee replied with QB Vince Young completed a 7-yard TD pass to RB Chris Johnson. After a scoreless third quarter, the Titans pulled away with RB LenDale White getting a 1-yard TD run. Jacksonville's only response would be kicker Josh Scobee's 27-yard field goal.

With the surprising loss, the Jaguars began their season at 0-1.

David Garrard, who threw only 3 interceptions in 2007, was intercepted twice by Titans CB Cortland Finnegan.

Hoping to rebound from their divisional home loss to the Titans, the Jaguars played their Week 2 home opener against the Buffalo Bills. In the first quarter, Jacksonville trailed early as Bills RB Marshawn Lynch got an 11-yard TD run. In the second quarter, the Jags responded with kicker Josh Scobee got a 28-yard field goal. Buffalo would close out the half with kicker Rian Lindell getting a 21-yard field goal. In the third quarter, Jacksonville took the lead with RB Maurice Jones-Drew getting a 2-yard TD run, along with Scobee's 50-yard field goal. In the fourth quarter, the Jags increased their lead with Scobee's 39-yard field goal. However, the Bills rallied as QB Trent Edwards completed a 7-yard TD pass to WR James Hardy, along with Lindell nailing a 45-yard field goal.

With yet another disappointing loss, the Jaguars fell to 0-2.

Still looking for their first win of the season, the Jaguars flew to Lucas Oil Stadium for a Week 3 AFC South duel with the Indianapolis Colts. In the first quarter, Jacksonville trailed early as QB Peyton Manning completed a 4-yard TD pass to WR Marvin Harrison. In the second quarter, the Jags took the lead with kicker Josh Scobee getting a 26-yard field goal, along with CB Rashean Mathis returning an interception 61 yards for a touchdown. Indianapolis would reclaim the lead prior to halftime as RB Joseph Addai got a 3-yard TD run.

In the third quarter, the Jaguars reclaimed the lead as RB Maurice Jones-Drew got a 6-yard TD run. In the fourth quarter, Jacksonville increased its lead with Scobee kicking a 21-yard field goal. However, the Colts got the late lead with Addai getting a 2-yard TD run. Fortunately, the Jags got a late drive and won as Scobee nailed the game-winning 51-yard field goal.

With the win, the Jaguars improved to 1-2.

Week 4: vs. Houston Texans

Coming off their last-second divisional road win over the Colts, the Jaguars went home for a Week 4 AFC South duel with the Houston Texans. In the first quarter, the Jags drew first blood with FB Montell Owens taking a fake punt and running 41 yards for a touchdown. The Texans would respond with kicker Kris Brown getting a 27-yard field goal. In the second quarter, Houston took the lead with QB Matt Schaub completing a 30-yard TD pass to RB Steve Slaton. Jacksonville ended the half with kicker Josh Scobee getting a 46-yard field goal.

In the third quarter, the Jaguars regained the lead with QB David Garrard completing a 16-yard TD pass to WR Matt Jones. The Texans would tie the game with Schaub completing a 5-yard TD pass to WR Kevin Walter. In the fourth quarter, the Jags jumped out again with Scobee getting a 40-yard field goal. However, Houston retook the lead with Schaub completing an 8-yard TD pass to Walter. Afterwards, Jacksonville regained the lead with Garrard getting a 5-yard TD run, yet the Texans tied the game with Brown's 47-yard field goal. In overtime, Jacksonville prevailed as Scobee nailed the game-winning 37-yard field goal.

With the win, the Jaguars improved to 2-2.

Week 5: vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Coming off their divisional home win over the Texans, the Jaguars stayed at home for a Week 5 Sunday night duel with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In the first quarter, the Jags pounced first as CB Rashean Mathis returned an interception 72 yards for a touchdown. The Steelers would respond with QB Ben Roethlisberger completing a 1-yard TD pass to TE Heath Miller, yet Jacksonville answered with RB Maurice Jones-Drew getting a 1-yard TD run. In the second quarter, Pittsburgh took the lead with kicker Jeff Reed getting a 38-yard field goal, Roethlisberger completing a 48-yard TD pass to WR Nate Washington, and Reed making a 23-yard field goal.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Jaguars regained the lead in the fourth quarter as QB David Garrard completed a 24-yard TD pass to TE Marcedes Lewis. However, the Steelers got their lead back as Roethlisberger completed an 8-yard TD pass to WR Hines Ward (with a failed 2-point conversion). The Jags tried to get a late-game rally, but Pittsburgh's defense stiffened enough for the win.

With the loss, the Jaguars fell to 2-3.
