Background and writing

It was one of the songs leaked before the "Perfect Day" release, and was speculated to be called "Tell Me Why". When the title, "What Do You Want From Me ?" was leaked, it was thought to be a completely different song, but after the album's release, this was proven wrong. In late 2007, All Around the World said that the massive "What Do You Want From Me?" would be the U.K. follow-up to the hit single, "What Hurts the Most". Due to lack of radio play in the UK, "What Do You Want From Me?" charted at only #51. A huge disapointment, considering What Hurts the Most reached a peak of #10, and previous singles were all able to list in the top 10 except 'A Never Ending Dream' which charted at #46.

Music video

Cascada's UK music label, All Around the World, released the music video on January 19, 2008, on their official site. In the video, Natalie and 3 friends are seen at a beach-side house, on the beach, and at a late night party, singing and dancing. In all scenes, she is continuously being followed or some how connected by a young man, hence the song title "What Do You Want From Me?".
