Staplefield is a village in the Mid Sussex District of West Sussex, England located 6 kilometres (4 miles) north west of Haywards Heath on the B2114 road. It is part of Cuckfield Rural civil parish.

The Anglican parish church built in 1847 is dedicated to St. Mark and the Roman Catholic church to Our Lady of Fatima. There are two pubs, the "Jolly Tanners" and the "Victory", the latter named in honour of Catherine Matcham, the favourite sister of Admiral Horatio Nelson, who lived in nearby Slaugham. There is a large village green and cricket pitch.

In 1994, Rvd Anthony Freeman, Vicar of St. Mark's was sacked by the Bishop of Chichester when he famously claimed that he didn't believe in God [ [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/393479.stm BBC Website] ] and published his book "God in Us: A Case for Christian Humanism". He is currently managing editor of The Journal of Consciousness Studies.
