"Stars" is the twelfth studio album by American singer Cher, released in 1975 by Warner Bros. Records. The album was one in a string of commercial flops for Cher in the 1970s failed to chart and had sold 700.000 copies worldwide. It was produced by Jimmy Webb, and peaked at #153 in the United States. During this era, two non-album singles were also issued. The first, 'A Woman's Story', was issued in 1975, as well as a duet with Harry Nilson called 'A Love Like Yours'. Both were unsuccessful, however, and are now considered hard-to-find rarities.

The album is considered by many of Cher's devoted fans to be one of the greatest recordings in her entire career, and there are fan-created petitions for Warner Brothers to release the album onto CD format. The album remains unreleased to this date on anything post-vinyl, and there are no announced plans to release the album onto CD or iTunes.

In early 1975, Cher started to record with Phil Spector. The songs "A Woman's Story," the duet with Harry Nilsson "A Love Like Yours (Don't Come Knockin' Everyday)," and the previously recorded song by The Ronettes "Baby, I Love You." Spector had hoped to re-record former material with Cher. Due to Spector's expensive costs and the long amount of time Spector took to record songs, the album was folded. Cher then turned to Jimmy Webb to record this album.
