Eskdale Green

Eskdale Green is 10 miles west of Coniston, Cumbria off the A595, one of the few settlements in this beautiful and unspoiled valley.

Eskdale Mill, where cereals have been grown since 1578, when it is recorded that brothers Henry and Robert Vicars were the tenants, paying an annual rent of eight shillings (40p). The original machinery for grinding oatmeal is in full working order and operated daily.

Eskdale Green also has its own railway, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway.
