Werner Roth (born April 4, 1948) is former American professional soccer player most associated with the New York Cosmos. He is a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame.

Roth was born in Yugoslavia. After immigrating to the United States at an early age, he became a rising star in American soccer through the 1960s, living in Brooklyn, New York. He attended Brooklyn Technical High School, playing on the varsity squad from 1962 to 1966, captaining the team in his senior year. One of the few Americans on the star-studded Cosmos, he helped them to the Soccer Bowl title in 1977. Roth also played 15 times for the US national team in the 1970s.

He played German soccer team captain Baumann in the 1981 movie "Victory" (titled "Escape to Victory" in Europe). Roth was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 1989.

In 2005, he became engaged to soap opera actress Robin Mattson. The couple were married in June 2006. [http://www.tvguide.com/News-Views/Soaps/QA/default.aspx?posting={52B2DE95-A954-43B7-BAEC-3B91DA199946}]
