State country

State country ( _de. Freie Standesherrschaft, _pl. państwo stanowe) was a unit of administrative and territorial division in Silesia existing from 15th to 18th centuries.

The state countries were formed from Duchies of Silesia, whose rulers - Silesian Piasts (Dukes of Silesia) died out, and the Duchies fall under lords who were not Dukes. Some of the state countries were highly autonomous, they had their own legal code and their lords were vassals of the king himself, not of the local dukes or princes.
