Vittorio Prodi (born on 19 May 1937 in Reggio Emilia)is an Italian politician and
Member of the European Parliamentfor North-Eastwith the Margherita Party,part of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe and sits onthe European Parliament's Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety.

He is a substitute for the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, a member ofthe Delegation to the EU-Croatia Joint Parliamentary Committee and asubstitute for the Delegation for relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council.

He is one of Romano Prodi's six brothers and two sisters

Career

* 1959: Graduated in physics at the University of Bologna
* 1970: lecturer in nuclear measurements
* University lecturer and researcher in leading national and international institutes
* since 1983: associate professor in the Physics Department of the University of Bologna
* 1995-2004: Chairman of the Provincial Council of Bologna
* 2001-2004: Member of the provincial representation of the Conference 'State - Cities - Local Governments' and of the 'Unified Conference' (State, Cities, local governments and Regions)
* Author of numerous publications and of five international patents
