West Arichat, Nova Scotia

West Arichat is a community in Nova Scotia. West Arichat was once called Little Arichat. In 1866, it changed its name to Acadiaville. The upper road in Grandique Ferry was also called Acadiaville. This caused confusion and the mail got mixed up. In the early 1890's Acadiaville, Grandique Ferry changed its name. In the early 20th century Acadiaville changed its name to West Arichat.

West Arichat was a mission of Arichat. It became a parish in 1862. The Immaculate Conception church burnt in and was rebuilt in the 1970's.
