Unión Deportiva Salamanca is a Spanish football team based in Salamanca. Officially founded March 16 1923, they currently play in Segunda División.

Nicknamed "Los Charros", they play in white shirts and black shorts. Their home stadium is the "Helmántico" that seats 17,341 spectators.

History

Initially formed by Irish students, Salamanca first played in early Spanish championships in 1907, before official foundation much later. They have since fluctuated between the "Segunda B" and the "Primera" divisions. Their most recent success in "La Liga" was between 1974 and 1981 under coach José Luis Garcia Traid, although the team has spent three subsequent seasons in the top division.
