The Feelers a New Zealand Rock band formed in the early 1990s in Christchurch by James Reid (singer/guitarist), Matthew Thomas (Bass) and Hamish Gee (Drums).

The Feelers got a record deal with Warner Music and released their first album, "Supersystem", went to number 1 in Septmber 1998. It was the second biggest selling album in New Zealand that year.

They later went on to win Album of the Year, Song Writer of the Year (James Reid), Band of the Year, and Producer of the Year (Malcolm Welsford) at the New Zealand Music Awards in 1999. Also from that record James Reid was awarded the most played song on New Zealand Radio with "Supersystem" 1998 and "Venus" 1999.

After extensive touring the band started work on their next album recording demos with Des Broadbery getting them ready to start full production with Gil Norton engineered by Danton Supple [http://www.dantonsupple.com] released in 2001 "Communicate" debuted at Number 1. Noted songs from that album include "Communicate", "The Web", and "Fishing for Lisa".

Their 2003 album, "Playground Battle", was seen by the band as a new direction for the band. Hitting the number 1 spot for the third time, this was a highly successful album showing the quality of song writing earning James Reid his third award for the APRA most played song on New Zealand Radio.

After further extensive touring around New Zealand, Australia, USA and Europe. The band started on their fourth album. Self producing this album, it is viewed by manywho as their best work to date, showing diverse directions.

On November 13th 2006, The Feelers released their 4th studio album entitled "One World". The album debuted at number one on the New Zealand Album Charts, [ [http://www.thefeelers.co.nz/ The Feelers Official Website - #1] ] and also went Platinum in its first week of release. The Feelers have announced they will be releasing there 5th album called "The Feelers: Greatests Hits". The album will include new songs. The first song to be released is called "Beautiful Feeling". Fact|date=September 2008

Trivia

*James Reid's brother is New Zealand singer-songwriter Donald Reid. There is much resemblance between James and Donald, appearance and vocally, and both have contributed to the other's respective albums.
*Matt Thomas' brother is Gareth Thomas, the keyboardist in former New Zealand band Goodshirt.
*An instrumental version of the song "Pressure Man" featured in the movie "Drop Dead Gorgeous" during Kirsten Dunst' tap-dancing act.
