Newport Beach ,California ,USA . His fatherSyd Ball was also a tennis player. Ball began playing ITFFuture Tournaments at the age of 13, 2 years before he began playing Junior tennis events. As a junior tennis player he reached a career high of number 9 in the world. He continues to be based in Newport Beach, with his father as his coach.Although born and based in the US, Carsten has continued to compete as an Australian player.
Ball currently has three future titles to his credit. His most successful tournament was the Tunica Resorts Challenger in May 2008 where, as a qualifier, he reached the final. He has also reached three other US Challenger tournament semi-finals.
