Sentinel Butte is a city in Golden Valley County, North Dakota in the United States. The population was 62 at the 2000 census. Sentinel Butte was founded in 1902.

Geography

Sentinel Butte is located at coor dms|46|55|7|N|103|50|20|W|city (46.918672, -103.838770)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.1 square miles (2.9 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 62 people, 30 households, and 18 families residing in the city. The population density was 55.3 people per square mile (21.4/km²). There were 44 housing units at an average density of 39.2/sq mi (15.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 100.00% White.

There were 30 households out of which 20.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.7% were married couples living together, 3.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.0% were non-families. 40.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 23.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.07 and the average family size was 2.72.

In the city the population was spread out with 19.4% under the age of 18, 3.2% from 18 to 24, 16.1% from 25 to 44, 27.4% from 45 to 64, and 33.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 50 years. For every 100 females there were 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.0 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $21,563, and the median income for a family was $33,750. Males had a median income of $21,250 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the city was $13,584. There were 16.7% of families and 18.2% of the population living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 26.7% of those over 64.
