Nesting is a parish in the east of Mainland, Shetland. It includes not only a part of the Mainland, measure about twelve miles (19 km) by four, on coast and seaboard from Gletness to Lunna Ness; comprehends also the islands of Whalsay and the Out Skerries, and is much diversified on all its coasts by voes and headlands. The land comprises only about 1,000 acres (4 km2) in tillage, and is mostly pastoral, or waste.

Lunnasting Parish was merged into it.

Nesting is generally divided into a north and south district.

James Stout Angus was from Nesting.
