Timothy K. "Tim" Bivins (born ca. 1951) is the State Senator for the 45th District in northwestern Illinois.
He was appointed to the 45th District seat in the Illinois State Senate on
March 7 ,2008 , to succeed the retiring Todd Sieben. Senator Bivins will run in the Novembergeneral election for a full four-year term.Senator Bivins serves as Republican spokesman of the Senate State Government and Veterans Affairs Committee. He is a member of the Agriculture and Conservation Committee, the Commerce and Economic Development Committee, and the Licensed Activities Committee.
Tim Bivins previously served as sheriff of Lee County, Illinois, which includes Dixon. He was elected sheriff in 1986 and served until 2006, retiring as Lee County's longest seving sheriff.
