Portage—Lisgar is a federal electoral district in Manitoba, Canada, that has been represented in the Canadian House of Commons since 1997.

Demographics

Geography

This is a rural district that include the towns of Portage La Prairie, Carman, Altona Winkler and Morden.

History

The electoral district was created in 1996 from the former districts of Lisgar—Marquette, Portage—Interlake and Provencher.

Members of Parliament

This riding has elected the following Members of Parliament:

* 1997-2000: Jake Hoeppner - Reform
* 2000-present: Brian Pallister - Canadian Alliance (2000-2003), Conservative (2003-present)

Current Member of Parliament

Its Member of Parliament is Brian Pallister, a former financial analyst. He was first elected in 2000. He represents the Conservative Party of Canada. He is currently the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade and the Minister of International Cooperation. He has announced that he will not be running in the next election.
