White Mountain School, often called White Mountain or WMS, is a co-educational, independent boarding school located in Bethlehem, New Hampshire, USA, approximately three hours north of Boston. Established in 1886 as "St. Mary's in the Mountains" in Concord, New Hampshire, the school moved to its current location in 1936. It is situated within the White Mountains Region of New Hampshire, close to the 750,000-acre (3,000-km²) White Mountain National Forest. White Mountain School has always used environmentalism and ecology as major tenets of its curriculum. Nearly all of its graduates attend four-year colleges or universities.

The White Mountain School is an independent boarding and day school dedicated to preparing young people for college studies and life beyond formal academics. Through a robust curriculum and interactive classes, the White Mountain experience allows students, in grades 9–12/PG, to own their education and become responsible and innovative young adults. Community service, sustainability, performing and fine arts, and wilderness skills are integral parts of the School’s program.

Outdoor-Oriented Curriculum

Each year, students and faculty embark on three Outdoor Learning Expeditions (OLEs) and an orientation trip similar to an OLE. These 3-4 day outdoor trips provide students with not only wilderness skills but help to define mankind's relationship with the outdoors. According to the school's website: "WMS is: The first high school and non-guide service in the country to have its rock & ice climbing and backcountry ski programs accredited through the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA)". The most popular sports are rock climbing, white water paddling, and in the winter, snowboarding and skiing.

International Opportunities

White Mountain also maintains a relationship with Lycee Saint Cyr in Nevers, France as well as community oriented service trips to Managua, Nicaragua; Cusco, Peru; and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
