- Bourbon biscuit
The Bourbon biscuit (sometimes referred to as a Bourbon cream or just Bourbon) is a sandwich
biscuit consisting of two thin rectangulardark chocolate biscuits with a chocolatefondant filling. The Bourbon is commonly acknowledged as a "mid range" biscuit, the presence of the chocolate fondant filling means it can not be regarded as being merely an "entry level" biscuit.Overview
The Bourbon was introduced in 1910 (originally under the name Creola) by the
Bermondsey biscuit companyPeek Freans , originator of theGaribaldi biscuit . It is apparently named after theHouse of Bourbon , an aristocratic French and Spanish family. ThePalais Bourbon is the seat of the French Parliament (in the same way that thePalace of Westminster houses the UK Parliament. It is similar in construction to the circular Hydrox,
Oreo and the slightly smallercustard cream , but different in ingredients and taste.References
